How many American Christians know of the real history of the American colonies before 1776? If you are a product of our government schools, like me (and even private schools), you probably don’t know much, if any, of the real history of our nation. Progressives have been rewriting our history for many decades now in order to create a more imperfect union. The profound Christian influence in the founding of our nation is written out of the history books and the minds of young and old. Progressives will not cease until America becomes like the totalitarian country from which these colonial refugees fled for their lives. Most refugees came here to get away from religious persecution, primarily by the Roman Catholic Church, in their home country, and to enjoy religious liberty in America. It was common for European countries to have a state-sponsored and approved religion. England, for instance, vacillated between the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of England or Anglican Church (sometimes called Episcopalians). If the King or Queen were a Roman Catholic, those who refused to worship God according to Roman dogma were persecuted. If the ruling Monarch was Anglican, then the Catholics were sometimes persecuted. This was true in most countries. Anyone not conforming to that ruling sect or state religion was persecuted, sometimes tortured, or killed in horrible, devilish ways. We can understand how motivated they were to leave their homeland for “greener pastures abroad.” Many more died at the hands of the Roman Catholic Church than did at the hands of the Reformers.
To bring a little perspective to the issue of religious persecution. It’s estimated by the author, Dr. Grady, and others that the Roman Catholic Church murdered around 50 million Christian people (non-Catholics) in cold blood over the years, while a few Protestants did persecute and kill a small fraction of that number of Catholics and other Christians. When this country was being founded, even the Puritans, who were themselves persecuted in England and Europe, persecuted other Christians, the Baptists in particular. And they put them in colonial hell holes or jails (gaols are jails, a loathsome jail, an Old English word pronounced jails) because they refused to pay the state church an Anglican tax, or refused to get approval from the state church to preach, or refused to practice the Romish rite of infant baptism. The greener pastures were not much greener after all. The only thing we learn from history is that most people learn nothing from it. The Colonial refugees thought that in America, they would have religious freedom and freedom of conscience (denied all by the Roman Catholic Church), but that was not yet true. Before the Revolutionary War and for a time after it, there was religious persecution in America by Protestant Christians against other Christians, mainly Baptists. A gulag is a system of forced labor camps in the Soviet Union. There was a “gulag of gaols” in early America, and it is still in place today. Back then, the persecuted Christians were put in literal jails. But today our “jail” is mobile. It’s not a fixed place like a prison building. We take our “gulag” with us wherever we go. Suppose we go shopping, to the gas station, to our church, to a family gathering, to the dentist or the doctor, to city or county offices, or to the workplace. We must remember the “gulag of jails” we are in and not say anything to upset the jailers (progressives), or we might face retribution and persecution. Anyone who hated being forced to wear a mask knows what I am talking about. And for those of us who refused the experimental COVID-19 vaccine, you know exactly what I am talking about. Anyone who refuses to use “personal pronouns” or take off MAGA apparel knows what I am talking about. Anyone who refuses to celebrate gay pride month and gay marriage knows what I am talking about. These are just a few of the ways we are put in the “gulag of jails” to be silenced or reeducated. By our silence and abject submission to tyranny, we imprison ourselves voluntarily. Too often, our fears or our lack of confidence in God keep us from our duty to be salt and light and speak the truth. The progressives hope that in the gulag of public disapproval, we will be reeducated, and at a minimum, we will be silenced. They will make life as unbearable as possible, and many of us will simply roll over and let them do it to us without saying or doing anything in protest.
We are not allowed to disagree with the prevailing progressive ideology regarding homosexuality, gay marriage, gender affirming thinking, climate change, the Bible, white privilege, macroevolution, the killing of babies, social justice, critical race theory, Black Lives Matter, the use of vaccines, and sending money to Ukraine to fight Russia. We are silenced and canceled on anything else the progressives tell us we must be silent on. We certainly can’t talk about Jesus Christ in public unless we’re taking His Holy name in vain. And we can’t declare behaviors sinful that the progressive deems to be good and acceptable. The “progressive will” is a jail for our mouths and our minds. Unfortunately, too many of us have allowed ourselves to be jailed in the progressive gulags of today.
Before and during colonial days in America, the goals were real and the suffering intense. Yet despite this, the parsons preached the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the prison bars to an eager group of Christians, no matter the weather. Today, the persecution is more subtle and takes the form of being ridiculed, mocked, being called a derogatory name, marginalized, threatened with the loss of a job, and so on. We have all heard of exceptions to this, where Christians have been actually jailed for praying outside a baby-killing factory or by preaching the truth about homosexuality or gender. The gulag has returned, literally.
If the progressives (Democrats) get absolute power in the United States, the prospect of physical violence is real and is not a conspiracy theory. This is exactly how it will be in the future for Bible-believing Christians in the USA with them in power. Dissenters will be locked in real jails and tortured accordingly, while real criminals will be let out of jail, as is the case in many Democrat-run cities today. Life will be just like it was in the old world. Life will be just like in early Colonial America, and just like it is in 3rd world countries around the world today. Our future, under their progressive leadership, is the “gulag of gaols.” “Fight now or die later” is not just a catchy slogan. It’s a moral imperative. We should learn from history before it’s too late.
In the Christian world today in the USA, there is another gulag operating, which is attempting to keep many Bible believers in check and silent. An ever-growing number of evangelical Christians are embracing ecumenism. These evangelicals want to build bridges with any group claiming to be Christian. No wonder it is unclear what the word Christian means today. And some of these folks want to build faith bridges with non-Christian religions. They insist, for instance, that Muslim’s and Christian’s serve the same god, which is total nonsense. Increasingly, for anyone taking a biblical worldview, it invites derision and ridicule. And these tactics compel or force many Christians into the gulag of silence for fear of being outed and persecuted because they refuse to compromise the truth of God to get along with fake Christians who have no problem compromising Biblical truth.
Dr. Grady believes that the primary reason for the invasion of immigrants in these beginning years in America, and the moral decline in America and our drift toward communism or fascism, is a fruit of the Roman Catholic Church (not the only reason for the rotten fruit, but a primary cause). Some of our founding fathers recognized the danger of the Roman Catholic Church and tried to warn us many years ago. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, to name just two. Believing we are more intelligent than they, little was done, and that resulted in much of our present trouble. The Roman Catholic Church has never been a supporter of our form of government because it despises Protestantism and capitalism. More importantly, they believe the Pope must be the final authority, not our government or constitution, not God, and indeed not citizens of the United States. The Roman Catholic Church stood with the South in the Civil War and is responsible for killing more than just a few of our politicians (Abraham Lincoln, to name one) and other leaders. In addition, the Roman Catholic Church is partly to blame for many wars around the world as well. Some of our founding fathers greatly feared the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The Jesuits, Rome’s assassins according to some, have been kicked out of more than 80 countries since they formed in the 16th century. Some of these nations invited them back in at a later date, much to their regret. The Roman Catholic Church ballooned the immigration of Catholics to the USA from around the world to destroy Protestant America, which the Roman Church despises. Dr. Grady is referring to the Roman Catholic Church in the early days of this nation. But think about today’s open southern border. What percentage of illegals coming over our border are Roman Catholic who swear allegiance to Rome first? Could Rome be behind this influx of illegals from Mexico and South America?
This is another subject Christians are not to discuss. The Roman Catholic Church has done a great job in convincing other Christians to embrace its church. We have Evangelicals, like Rick Warren, who are vocal supporters of the Pope and Rome. The Roman Catholic Church uses all means necessary (the end justifies the means) to weaken our country and destroy authentic Christianity from the face of the earth. Some people of God continue to believe that the Roman Catholic Church is the great Whore of Babylon as described in the Book of Revelation. As of this moment, I see no other contender. Now we have other Christians and the Progressives both imposing on us the gulag of silence. Liberal Christian Churches fully embrace the Roman Catholic Church, and some Evangelicals do also. They should know better. They don’t know or don’t believe the truth about the history of the Roman Catholic Church here in America or around the world. And they don’t know or don’t care about the false gospel of the Roman Catholic Church. One of my following articles will detail all the reasons the Roman Catholic Church institution is not the church of Jesus Christ. That said, there are kind, decent, and generous Roman Catholics who apparently don’t know any better or are afraid to leave.
When this nation was being formed and populated, there was an increase in Roman Catholic immigration to our eastern cities. The priests of the Catholic Church also moved to the USA. Initially, a tiny minority were Roman Catholics, and that grew exponentially over the years. According to Dr. Grady, the original morality of our country was quickly overturned. Dr. Grady contends that Catholics brought old-world vices to life in America, including what became organized crime. The Roman Catholic Church had a practice of “selling sin” for a price. No wonder morality quickly declined in the general population. In 1846, the following was printed in America. Call this a sin tax created by the Roman Catholic Church to enrich themselves at the expense of the ignorant masses of Catholics. This is a sampling only, taken from Grady’s book. To buy and receive absolution from sin, the price follows based on the type of sin committed. Perjury and lying cost 2.00; Robbery 3.00; Burning a house 2.75; eating meat in lent 2.75; killing a layman 1.75; striking a priest 2.75; abortion 1.50; ravishing a virgin 2.00; priest to keep a concubine 2.25; murder of father or mother, wife or siblings 2.50; priest committing adultery with a nun or others 10.00; and absolution of all crimes together for a tax of 12.00 (the full meal deal on special). Is it any wonder why civic immorality increased? If this doesn’t repulse you, then you are as deceived as a person can be. The idea that anyone can pay a tax or tariff to be absolved of sin they have committed could only originate from the bowels of hell. The sinless and perfect Jesus Christ died for our sins with his blood. No one can buy forgiveness of sins with money. Jesus purchased our forgiveness with His blood, not money. To believe money could buy forgiveness is so disgusting that it is hardly believable that thinking people could fall for such a pathetic and demonic idea. “Come out from among them and be ye separate,” says the Lord God Almighty. To conclude this paragraph, I add one more quote from Dr. Grady. “However, in what is undoubtedly the most concealed period of US history, Catholic snipers, bombings, and mob violence would set the pace of thirty years of Belfast-styled religious riots in America’s largest cities.” Dr. Grady, page 203. No one should be shocked when a whore prostitutes herself.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, in his book “The Gulag Archipelago,” described his life in the Soviet Union and its gulags in the mid-20th century. He tried to warn the whole world about the gulag of communism, but most of us were and are today fast asleep. Solzhenitsyn, as I understand it, was released to the United States by the Soviets and then left the USA because of our moral bankruptcy. He went back to Russia, where he died. Imagine that, if you will. Mr. Solzhenitsyn was tortured in the Soviet Union’s gulags for many years, but thought life would be better in Russia than in the USA! Something must have changed dramatically for him to return to the nation that almost murdered him and murdered tens of millions of fellow citizens.
Apparently, Vladimir Putin got to know Aleksandr. It’s reported that Putin requires the Gulag Archipelago as a required reading in the high schools in Russia. In America, our list of reading needed for High School students is about perverse sex, gender fluidity, white privilege, and other progressive and communist propaganda. Russia today is not the Soviet Union of yesterday. Much has changed. In a few ways, Russia is our moral superior, which is heresy for most Americans.
To restrict free speech as the progressive Democrats, the media, and social media are doing today is to imprison people in a gulag of silence, lies, and ignorance. And that is precisely what they want. There is no free speech in communist countries, and very little here in the USA. My, how far we have fallen. It’s breathtaking. Life is a prison when we can’t challenge ideas and disagree with the thoughts and plans of others that impact us. If we lose free speech, we lose a free press and our most important freedoms. The freedom of religion will quickly vanish if we remain silent and cooperative. We must fight back. The progressive “gulag of gaols” can’t keep us silent unless we surrender to their tyranny. I agree with Mr. Churchill, “Never, never, never, never, give up”. As the battle rages on, remember that God is on the side of righteousness and truth. The victory is His and ours if we are willing to receive it.
