Faith and Repentance
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” James 2:17. “But wilt thou know, O
vain man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:20.“Ye see then how that by works a man
is justified, and not by faith only.” James 2:24.
“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”
James 2:19. Faith without obedience (works) is the faith of devils and will save no one.
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall
have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13, emphasis added. Most evangelicals are taught that confession
alone is sufficient to find mercy, but this word refutes that notion, demanding that sin be
forsaken, not just confessed, to find mercy. See also 1 John 1:9, Acts 3:19, Luke 13:3,5, 2
Corinthians 7:10, James 5:16, Matthew 3:6.
