You might think, from this title, that this article must be about Donald Trump because of “Trump Derangement Syndrome” so prevalent these days. And you are correct, Donald Trump is part of the story. As most Christians know, the left would rather have a mass murderer or any godless person as President of the USA, instead of Trump. They hate Trump because they hate what he stands for. They hate God and Bible-believing Christians because of what they stand for, which is truth and righteousness. This article is actually about the madness of godlessness.
“And they cried out all at once, saying, away with this man (kill Jesus) and release unto us Barabbas.” Luke 23:18, emphasis added.
The religious leaders of that day conspired with the mob to put Jesus to death. They preferred to have a murderer let loose on their streets than to let a righteous man live. The very pastors and shepherds that the Jews were trusting to lead them to God were the ones who led them to reject the one true God and kill Him. This amazing story is almost unbelievable. Would you believe me if I told you the exact same thing is happening today? Probably not. But I am still going to try. This exact story is being played out these days.
The Jewish leadership had the “Jesus Christ Derangement Syndrome”. These “holy men of God” called for the release of a murderer instead of the innocent Jesus Christ. They wanted to murder an innocent man, and let a guilty murderer, Barabbas, go free. How deluded they were. Despite their biblical scholarship and spiritual trappings, they had no idea what truly pleases God. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? If the clergy is wicked, what chance do ordinary believers have? The mob followed the example of their demonic spiritual leadership, thinking they were actually serving God. What incredible demonic madness.
Think about what the Democratic Party is doing right now. They are trying to stop the deportation of illegal migrants some of whom who are murderers, rapists, and child sex abusers. Their mascot is Abrego Garcia, who was recently deported to El Salvador. They are fighting with all their might to force the White House to return him to the USA. Abrego Garcia is their Barabas. They would rather have Garcia and other thugs roaming free in our nation rather than MAGA ruling. Moreover, wicked leftists are trying to stop the discontinuation of the fraud, waste, and abuse in our government. If all this waste, fraud, and abuse is cleaned up, their power will vanish. “Away with this man, Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters, and all they stand for” is their demonic mantra.
How is it that these supposed lovers of God, these spiritual leaders of the Nation of Israel, wanted to kill their Messiah? Scripture tells us that they delivered Jesus up because of envy. They knew Jesus must die or He would take away their place, and all people would follow Him and not them. Sounds exactly like what motivates the Democrat Party.
After they had Jesus crucified, they started killing His disciples also. Don’t think for a moment that the godless Democrat will not come after Bible believing Christians and conservatives if the Democrat Party ever regains power. These well-educated Jewish religious murderers were supposed to be the most holy and righteous of all people. They were called to teach others the ways of God. They could cite chapter and verse of the Old Testament, and most certainly played the part of a religious professional very well. They dressed the part and acted the part, but simply pretended to be holy men of God. Most people were fooled because they knew God through them, rather than knowing God directly. And many followed them blindly, just like today. The Jewish leaders screamed, “Away with this man.” The very ones looking for the coming of the Messiah murdered Him without a second thought.
I fear that most Christians today are doing the same thing because their pastor is leading them astray, and they refuse to see it. They have their ideas about Jesus Christ and what it means to be a Bible-believing Christian. Any challenges to their incorrect beliefs most often receive the same message: “Away with this man.” For instance, tell Christians that the Word of God demands their holiness and repentance from sin, and they will mock you and call you all kinds of names. They will respond, “Away with this man,” even before they consider the scriptural basis for this position. They kill Jesus figuratively because they refuse to accept the truth, and Jesus is the truth, the life, and the only way. Killing the truth is killing Jesus Christ, in a non-bloody way.
Things have not changed much over the centuries. It wasn’t long before the Roman Empire started persecuting Christians, “away with these men, these Christians, these truth tellers”. That continued until Constantine put a temporary stop to it, but subsequently started persecuting Christians again if they refused his plans to centralize and control house churches. Not long after that, Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire. Then, Christians started murdering other Christians. All of this was prophesied by John in his gospel, reflecting the words of Jesus Christ. First, it was the Jews; then the Romans started persecuting believers.
“They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.” John 16:2.
The Roman Catholic Church assumed the mantle of the Jewish religious leaders, while also incorporating the paganism of the Roman Empire. “Away with this man (Jesus of the Bible) and His followers” was the battle cry for many centuries. These deluded souls thought “that he doeth God service” by killing Christians who refused to compromise the truth as demanded by the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church, and later by some of the Protestant Reformers.
“Away with this man” is still the response from many today. The nominal, carnal, or cultural Christian says “away with this man” because they want a Jesus of their imagination. Their Jesus doesn’t demand everything and is soft on sin. That Jesus is welcome, not the Jesus that says, “Go and sin no more”.
Atheists say, “Away with this man,” who claims to be God and the Creator of the Universe. Give me Jesus the good teacher, not Jesus the Son of God Almighty.
You and I may never utter these words, “away with this man,” but our fruit will reveal the truth in our hearts. If we make excuses for our sins and compromises to the truth, then know for sure that we are no better than all the rest who say, “Away with this man Jesus.”
