Do You Not Know That Egypt Is Destroyed?

               Moses returned to Egypt to prepare the Jews for their exodus from the land of bondage. God, through Moses and Aaron, was demonstrating His power to the Jews and the Egyptians with the plagues He sent on Egypt. The eighth plague was the locusts, which devoured all the green that the previous plagues hadn’t yet destroyed.

• The first plague was turning the fresh water into blood.
• The second plague was the frogs that covered the land. The magicians of Pharaoh were able to do the same with the first two plagues. Too bad they weren’t able to turn bloody water into fresh water and to remove all the frogs! They didn’t need more polluted water and more frogs.
• The third plague was lice.
• The fourth plague was flies, but Israel was exempt from this plague and all the other plagues to come.
• The fifth plague was the disease on the cattle, horses, and so on.
• The sixth plague was boils and blains on man and beast.
• The seventh plague was hail and fire.
• The eighth plague was locusts to eat up anything green, including trees that Egyptians were very fond of, that might have survived the other plagues.
• The ninth plague was the three days of complete darkness, except that Israel had light.
• The tenth and final plague was the death of all first-born beasts, servants, and Egyptians throughout the land.

Our focus will be on the eighth plague of locusts.

“Then Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God. Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?” Exodus 10:7, emphasis added.

Pharaoh’s leader team pleaded with Pharaoh to let the Jews go three days’ journey into the wilderness to sacrifice to their God. It is easy to relate to their exasperation with Pharaoh and to empathize with their plight. All the land had been suffering from seven prior plagues. Their economy was in tatters. Food was scarce. Lives were being destroyed, both animal and human lives. Everyone was suffering in Egypt, but those in Israel were kept from all but two of these plagues. Fear gripped the nation of Egypt. The Egyptian magicians and leaders all knew that their gods were no match for the one true God of the Jews. They also knew that, if they did not release the Jews, their country would be completely destroyed along with all of them, their families, and the Egyptian people.

That is why they begged Pharaoh to reconsider: “Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?” They were probably thinking of questions such as these: How is it that our supreme leader is so blind and unperceptive? Will he let our nation be destroyed entirely before he wakes up and repents? Surely he knows the devastation that has already occurred in our country under his misguided leadership. Why isn’t he stopping this?We have lost the war; let us make peace with the God of Israel before all is lost.

At this point, the Egyptian leaders did not know anything about the coming ninth plague of total darkness, and the tenth plague where their first-born children and animals would die. Nor did they know that shortly after that 10^th plague, Pharaoh would expel Israel from the land of Egypt in haste. After their expulsion from Egypt, Pharaoh would change his mind again and go after the people of Israel to bring them back into bondage! God would then destroy Pharaoh and his army in the sea. They did not know that any of this awaited them, but they had the good sense to know something terrible would come.

Does this story remind you of what is happening in the USA?

I know that many of us today are saying the same thing about our President, Joe Biden, and our leaders in both the Senate and the House. We are especially concerned about the so-called conservative leadership in the House. We normal conservative Americans are wondering and questioning, “Leaders, do you not yet know that the USA is destroyed?” Some of us want to say to them, “What are you waiting for, to stop this insanity? Do you not care about us and our children’s future? Why don’t you do something drastic to arrest this collapse? Why do you continually give the enemy what they demand? Can you not see where all this ends?”

For those with eyes to see, it all seems obvious. Over the past few decades, we have witnessed a rapid decline in our standard of living and an erosion of our foundational moral values.

• Our middle class is being decimated.
• Homelessness continues to grow ever faster. With rising interest rates and inflation, fewer families can afford rent, and even fewer can afford to buy a home.
• Lawlessness is growing like a plague in our cities and towns. Our political leaders are not just allowing this to happen, but are actively making it happen.
• Drug overdoses and drug abuse are out of control, along with our open southern border. Our leaders just sit back and let it happen. But what can they do? How about shutting down the government until the President fixes this problem?
• Our southern border is wide open to both ‘good’ and evil people who want to enter our country illegally. Why isn’t this treason being stopped and those responsible being tried for treason?
• Where are all these illegals going to live and work? Who is covering the financial costs for all this?
• The open southern border is election interference on steroids. This is an evident and illegal plan to steal all future elections by the Democrats. Yet no one is held accountable, the press covers it up, and Republicans remain silent. Apparently, conservative Republicans care more about the borders in Israel and Ukraine than our border.
• Only conservatives are held accountable in our two-tiered justice system. Democrats break laws and are seldom, if ever, prosecuted. Why is that?
• What this nation once called good is now called evil, and what was once called evil is now called good. I do not want that, do you? Apparently, our conservative Republicans could give a rip about morality and what God demands. Obviously, the godless Democrat Party cares nothing about God and His principles of morality.
• Child sex trafficking is increasing with this open border policy of the Biden administration. I guess it must not be that big of a deal in a nation where 63 million babies have been murdered since 1973.
• The government and the Federal Reserve have created financial bubble after financial bubble by their misuse of their power. All thinking people recognize that this house of cards is unsustainable. Yet nothing is done to stop this immoral spending. But this is how Democrats and many Republicans buy votes.
• Our government continues to spend more than it takes in, and our national debt is closing in on 35 trillion dollars with no end in sight. No one in government has the courage and will to stop this insanity. We should shut down this government to get our house in order.
• Our public schools are failing to educate our children in the basics, but excel in indoctrinating them in woke ideologies. Colleges and Universities are no different. The elite are all for choice if we are talking about murdering babies, but they are all against choice if we are talking about school choice. School choice is the only secular way to change our culture, and if we do not do that, we are doomed.
• Why is our government always lying to us? Do you trust the White House, the President and Vice President, the Senate and the House, the FBI, CIA, DOJ, and so on? I did at one time, but I no longer do.
• Just this last week, the Republican Speaker of the House double-crossed the majority of the Republican Party and Republicans and gave the godless Democrats everything they wanted. Even more money, that we must borrow, is going to fight wars in Ukraine and Israel. And our southern border is still wide open, and we are still funding late-term abortions. Shame on those Republicans who voted for this. Double shame on all Democrats, and Joe Biden.
• When are we going to stop making war around the world? When are we going to stop funding those wars? When are we going to stop all the unnecessary killing?
• Obviously, our system is broken and it needs to be completely overhauled.
• We have let our godless leaders kick God out of our schools, culture, government, education, and courts, and we wonder why God is fighting against us instead of helping us. Our nation must repent of its many sins, or more severe judgment is inevitable.
• This list seems endless, doesn’t it?

Politicians, other leaders, and normal citizens, “Do you not yet know, that the USA is destroyed?”

It seems evident that our feckless leadership is going to let the Titanic (USA) sink to the bottom of the ocean (9^th and 10^th plagues plus the Red Sea Crossing of Israel and drowning of Pharaoh and his military). Then they will pretend to be surprised and sorry at the same time, for our downfall. And they will never admit their guilt, and never be held accountable for their evil, unless there is a wholesale change in leadership.

Not only is the federal government destroying this nation, but many states are doing the same thing. Even at the local level, the cancer of liberalism and progressivism is destroying our nation. “All it takes for the triumph of evil is for good men to say nothing.” Edmond Burke. Speak up and let your voice be heard while you still have the chance.

Christians, “Do you not yet know that the USA is destroyed?”

The Christian church is not being the salt and light Jesus demands of us. The nominal Christian Church is more interested in making money, constructing buildings, and growing its membership at the expense of the truth than it is in cleaning up its unrighteous lives. If this group (Christians) doesn’t see how desperate things are, then we are in big trouble. If the watchmen don’t see the approaching danger, then the nation will most assuredly fall.

What monumental catastrophe must we endure before the citizens of the USA demand more? What is it going to take for God to get our attention? There is no hope for this nation without a turning to God in repentance. We have so much evil to repent of. Let us start with ourselves before we presume to talk to anyone else about their sin.

2 Chronicles 7:14 goes something like this, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, seek my face, pray, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their land.” There are four conditions, and it is not a multiple-choice question; all four must be met for the promise to be valid. What is your choice?

Is there more to this story?

The Pharaoh’s men were rightly exasperated at the inexplicable decisions of their leader, the Pharaoh. What they did not know was this: the cause was of God. Multiple times in this story, we are told that God ‘hardened the heart of the Pharaoh’ so that he would not let the people go. This provided God with the opportunity to demonstrate His power as the one and only God of the universe. Pharaoh also hardened his own heart numerous times. Because of this, Pharaoh was blind to what he must do, which was to let the Jews leave for three days to make sacrifices to their LORD.

When his team asked him, “Do you not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?” The simple answer was no; he did not know that Egypt had been destroyed. Pharaoh was hardened in sin, blinded, and moved by the sovereign purpose of God in bringing judgment to Egypt. In God’s judgment on the nation of Egypt, he saw nothing about its stubborn wickedness that was the cause of these judgments. His pride blinded him, and so he could not see what was going to happen to himself and his nation. I do not want to believe that this is true of the USA.   

“Do you not know yet that the USA is destroyed?”

If there is no genuine repentance (individual and national) very shortly, we will face a very dark future that God Himself is designing for this nation. Join me in prayer for our country. Seek God and His direction. Then obey Him to the letter. We must have God’s help to overcome the unrighteous chaos we have made of our nation.
